Chinese summer camps in China: what do you learn and experience?

Chinese summer camps are a quick way for students to practise speaking in a native environment and understand Chinese culture. In summer 2026, Thanh Do University ran two programmes: at Wenshan University (Yunnan) and Qingdao Huanghai University (Shandong).

Summer camp at Wenshan University

The programme was planned from 28 June 2026 to 6 July 2026 and included:

• Practising spoken Chinese in real situations: shopping, travel, food.
• Exploring folk arts: paper cutting, calligraphy, tea ceremony, traditional festivals.
• Visiting cultural and tourist sites and meeting local students.

Participants received free meals and dormitory accommodation at the university and a certificate of participation in a Vietnam–China international student exchange programme.

Summer camp at Qingdao Huanghai University

Students and lecturers took part in exchanges and cultural activities in the coastal city of Qingdao, putting into practice the strategic partnership signed by the two universities on 18 March 2026 covering training and staff and student exchange.

How to get the most from a summer camp

1. Review common phrases before you go.
2. Talk with local students every day.
3. Keep a journal of new words and cultural impressions.
